Cape Town Accommodation
04.25.05 (4:15 pm)   [edit]
If you are looking for accommodation in Cape Town, here are a few tips:

If you want sea-viewing accommodation near Cape Town (within 10 minutes drive), look for accommodation in Camps Bay, where you can find a whole range of prices.

If you want centralised accommodation near to the city bowl, try looking for accommodation in the Waterfront, which is walking distance from attractions like the Cape Town International Convention Centre and the central business district.

There are many tour operators with shops in the business district from where you can plan your day tours, and most hotels have a desk where you can find information about these. There are so many Cape Town hotels to choose from. To name a few, look for 'The Bay Hotel', the 'Arabella Sheraton Hotel', the 'Cullinan Hotel', the 'Holiday Inn Hotel', the 'Mount Nelson Hotel' etc. These are some of the major hotels right in Cape Town. There are many more, but too many to mention here!

Self Catering Cape Town
04.19.05 (9:57 am)   [edit]

Many visitors look for self catering holiday villas in Cape Town. There are so many in and around Cape Town that it's often quite hard to choose. The standards are high and you can find anything from a 'low' star rating to 5 star luxury accommodation.

A tip when choosing your self catering Cape Town accommodation is to ask for a Cape Town Tourism rating (this is where the establishments get their official tourism star rating). Also visit their website for more suggestions.

Car rental Cape Town
04.18.05 (8:54 am)   [edit]

When visiting Cape Town, it is important to hire a car if you are planning on staying longer than 3 days, since public transport can be unreliable and not up to standard. Allot of work is being done to upgrade, but it is still better to rent a car in Cape Town, which will enable you to explore Cape Town and surrounds. Within a 2-3 hour radius around Cape Town you can see the most wonderful landscapes, Cape Winelands, the South and West Coast and much more.

There are many options with regards to renting and we will list a few here:

Blue Dot Car Hire
Value Rental Car
Reeds

Car rental rates in Cape Town start at around R180 and up, depending on what rental car you choose. If you had a good experience with a car rental company (or bad!) in Cape Town, comment here!

Table Mountain
04.17.05 (7:32 am)   [edit]

Table Mountain, Cape Town, South Africa.

Table Mountain continues to be the most sought after famous landmark pictures on the internet. I took this picture from Blouberg Strand, which is also a nice destination to visit and only 20km from Cape Town.

Table Mountain has a cable car system, run by the Table Mountain Aerial Cabelway Company.

Table Mountain also has beautiful scenic hiking trails, but it is recommended to walk with a guide and to use the more travelled roads.
