Club Hemisphere - A room with a view.
06.26.05 (8:50 am)   [edit]

It's not often that you find clubs that are located on the top floor of a high-rise building. Club Hemisphere is situated on one of the top floors of the ABSA building in Cape Town. With absolutely breathtaking panoramic views of Table Mountain and the whole Waterfront, the bar is set on its top standards.

Entrance fees are R50 for men and R30 for the ladies, or if you're lucky enough to know someone you get to enter the VIP lounge. Music played is mostly commercial dance and hip-hop, but not your hard hitting club music. It's more of a funky house vibe that made Cape Town clubs like the Fez famous.

The people are older, I think the entry age must be around 23, allthough younger girls (19-23) tend to get in, but strictly no teenie boppers. Drinks aren't too expensive with your average single shot around R10. They have good shooters as well!

This is the hottest Cape Town club of the moment!

Cape Town Self Drive Daytrips
06.23.05 (8:34 am)   [edit]

Beautiful places to visit around Cape Town for self drive trips:

Hermanus - Whale watching, fine dining, perfect weekend getaway!
Cape Point
- Visit Boulders Beach and see the African penguins
Stellenbosch Wine Route - Wine Tours, Tastings and Accommodation
Helderberg Wine Route  - beautiful estates
Franschhoek - beautiful Cape wine and cuisine area near Stellenbosch

Start with these day trips, all possible within one day. Hermanus is the farthest, about 1.5 hours from Cape Town, so best for a weekend getaway. There are many guesthouses to choose from on the Hermanus Website listed above.

Long Street Club in Cape Town.
06.19.05 (8:23 am)   [edit]

The club Miam Miam is currently one of the happening, trendy bars/clubs in Long Street, Cape Town. Located close to the likes of Kennedy's and Long Street Cafe its great to have such a good variety of venues for having a decent night out on town.

Miam Miam is a relatively small club (allthough entrance is well managed, so it's never over crowded), with a beautiful 'corridor entrance', making the first experience some of 'exciting relevation'. The large central bar in the rectangle shaped main room, makes getting drinks easy and the staff are helpful. A small dancefloor next to the main bar satisfies the need to bump 'n grind a little. The music is suited with the odd club 'choon' giving way to more mainstream commercial dance music most of the time.

The crowd is young and hip (18-35), well dressed and the best part of all is that it always seems that the men to women ration is about 1 to 3! It gets the thumbs up from us!

Winter Hangouts in Cape Town
06.10.05 (7:52 am)   [edit]

The need for cosy Cape Town winter spots have arisen through the latest spate of winter weather and we've come up with some spots that might heat your winter evening up a little.

Planet Bar - Mount Nelson

A trendy Cape Town bar with a cosy setting, stylish lounge type bar with helpful waiters and a 5 star restaurant in the same building. For the sophisticated socialite looking to have a meaningful conversation (good background music). For those taking it a bit too far there's always the Mount Nelson five star hotel to stay over in...

Madame Zingara

One of Cape Town's favorite top notch restaurants with a Bohemian theme. Amazing culinary finesse and a lively atmosphere. Try the chilli-chocolate steak!

Kennedy's Cigar Bar

An all time favorite for after work drinks with a top restaurant on the first floor. Great live jazz music on many nights and cigars galore.

Cape Town Drum & Bass Parties
06.06.05 (7:51 am)   [edit]
Every first weekend on the month there is a drum & bass party called Homegrown, with the likes of DJ Animal Chin (from Algorythm) and his crew of excellent DJs and MCs. If you are into drum & bass music, be sure to check out the packed venue of Mercury Live. Featuring the best of local and international drum & bass music. A must for party loving young at heart crowds.

Review: Carribean Restaurant
06.05.05 (9:36 am)   [edit]
Recently spent a Fiday afternoon in the Carribean Restaurant in Cape Town's Long Street, next to Long Street Cafe. What an awesome spot! Friday afternoons sees a happy hour of cocktails between 5pm and 6pm where all cocktails cost R13! The food is also really good (try the pork or crazy goat curry) and you're sure to have a good time.
